Mac Loftin

Mac is a PhD candidate in the Study of Religion. He studies the relationship between Christian theology and political thought, principally in relation to far-right nationalisms in the twentieth century and today. His research explores how theological discourses of sacrament, incarnation, Christology, ecclesiology, and salvation have been taken up and reimagined in times of political crisis. Other interests include medieval mystical theologies and their reception in postmodernity, religion and literature, and theologies of grief and mourning in relation to the climate crisis.

Mac received a B.A. in Philosophy and Classics & Religion from Boston University in 2015 and an M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School in 2018.
